Skyler Acord has been known around the music scene for a bit. Whether producing for bands like The Home Team or playing bass in bands like Issues and Twenty One Pilots, Sky has been a part of the metalcore/heavy pop scene for a long time. You may have seen him producing and writing for bands such as The Home Team, Honey Revenge, Bilmuri, and many more over time. Some would consider Skyler Acord as a huge inspiration for what is now being seen in alternative music. Coming into his own, Sky releases his own mixed single, “The End of Everything.”
This is Skyler’s second release this year, coming off “it’s you that i’m missing” and singing on the last Issues track, “Since I Lost You.” The “End of Everything” marks Skyler’s second single this year on his solo project. Sky being known for his bass work is bringing a powerful gothic vibe to his solo project. The song gives reminders of something you listen to in a gothic club. While it's touching on those vibes, it's still holding to those RnB/Alt vibes you can find in his music. It’s something new to see from Sky in a very unique way.
The meaning behind “The End of Everything” is about losing someone you truly love. Skyler says, “The end of everything is a romantic vision. When separation is so unbearable that you have no choice but to follow your better half to the other side.” The anxiety and the feelings of confusion about death are noticeable in lines such as “Are you terrified of being on your own?” and “Visions of death haunt me like a ghost.” You can tell the vision of dealing with the anxiety of death. You can tell it’s struggling with the idea of losing someone you truly love in a dark romantic way.
