The music world found itself on the brink of a vibrant resurgence this past week, as the echoes of rumors and excitement proved to become a reality as Tyler The Creator's Camp Flog Gnaw Festival returned to the big stage after a lengthy fpur-year hiatus. This time, with a heap of new and familiar faces who took the stage during this two-day celebration.
Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival first started its reign in the fall of 2012, with Tyler The Creator bringing forth a group of well-known and upcoming artists to celebrate the love of music and uniquely mixing genres to appease all corners of the industry. However, in the end of 2019, the sudden close of the festival came crashing down after the spread of COVID-19 and the global pandemic began to halt all possibilities for the following years. However, this past weekend, November 11-12th of 2023, the festival came to fruition on full affect at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, its original port for the festival in past years.
As the spotlight once again shined on this eclectic celebration, fans alike were excited to finally experience the energy the extensive list of performers would bring to the table, and they definitely didn't disappoint. The lineup included some notable names such as SZA, Kendrick Lamar, Pink Pantheress, Ice Spice, Baby Keem, Kali Uchis, Willow Smith, Lil Yachty, and so many more known and highly respected artists. However, through the midst of big names, Tyler invited a grandiose of new faces to the stage, such as upcoming artists Teezo Touchdown, Redveil, Julie, D4vd, and more.
In a kaleidoscope blend of pure creativity and sonic innovation and with the inclusion of festival rides that give fans a nostalgic sense of childhood, Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival gives the feeling of togetherness each attendee experiences. Performing artists were all able to shine during this event, mainstream and underground alike, while also experiencing a taste of nostalgia during the entire moment. This event continued to strive even years after its last event, and reached new heights this past weekend.
